Cloud Computing is where hosting, databases, file servers, applications and email are provided through a network of computers - most often across the Internet.
Traditionally, software and its associated data was stored on the user's computer. This is all well and good for single installations, but does mean that when many people work within an organization, they soon end up running different versions of programs or with different data. It can also take hours - sometimes days - to set up a computer for a new user.
With cloud computing - all users can work with the same application versions and data if required. The computer acts as a user interface and contains hardly any data or software.
Cloud computing can completely change the way companies use technology.
